SCT: How to make one of the healthiest tryglyceride, right at home!

Well, most preferred fat to ingest is Short Chain Tryglycerides. If you try to buy it, you may find it to be somewhat expensive for daily use. Good news is that you can make SCT oil right at home, which is 95% as effective as the industrially made SCT oil available in market. The health benefits of the same are amazing. If you want to watch it and wa
nt to know the benefits, you may want to watch this.

Most important ingredient to make pure SCT oil from is "organic grass-fed butter'. And main process involves slowly melting the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, allowing the milk solids to separate and settle at the bottom, then carefully strain the liquid fat, leaving behind the solids; this process is called clarifying the butter, and the resulting oil is your SCT oil. Unfortunately other butters that are not from pure grass fed cows, will not result in SCT oil, but a mix of SCT and MCT oil (and they are still much much better than the usual LCT oils like vegetable oils).

Ingredients:

  • High-quality grass-fed butter (We use the one from Costco, but purer ones are available at many other stores like whole foods)

Key steps:

  • Gather your ingredients: Use purest high-quality grass-fed butter you can find (We use one from Costco)

  • Heat gently: Place the butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-low heat.

  • Separate the solids: As the butter melts, the milk solids will rise to the surface as foam. Skim off these solids with a spoon as they appear.

  • Simmer until clear: Continue simmering until the liquid fat becomes clear and the milk solids settle at the bottom, turning a golden brown color.

  • Strain the oil: Remove the pan from heat and carefully pour the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth into a clean container.

  • Cool and store: Let the SCT oil cool slightly before storing in an airtight container at room temperature.

Important points to remember:

  • Don't burn the butter: Keep the heat low to prevent the milk solids from burning.

  • Quality matters: Using good quality grass-fed butter will result in a better tasting SCT oil and would have the butyrates that we want in our SCT oil! <Esp the ones with Autoimmune conditions!!>

  • Use a heavy-bottomed pan: This helps to distribute heat evenly and prevent scorching.

  • Ghee made from grassfed cow's milk is also shortchain (SCT) and has all the benefits including butyrates!
